The Eastlake Wolves lost their battle against the 9-0 ( #2 in state) Olympia Bears in the winner to the state play-offs.  The Wolves played a very inspired game and left everything out on the field.  After giving up a long TD run on Olympia’s first possession the Wolves responded with two very good sustained drives – one with Stephen Nasca diving in from the I yard line and the other on Paul Wright’s 5 yard TD catch from Kelby McCorkle. The Wolves were in a great position and controlling the game on both sides of the ball.  Unfortunately, the Bears scored on two late possessions  in the 2nd quarter that were momentum killers for the Wolves – one that appeared  the Bears receiver was out of the end zone and with 20 seconds left in the  first half scored on a long TD catch and run. The Wolves went into halftime instead of leading 14-7 were down 21-14. The Wolves came out in the second half and just could not match the success they had in the 1st half.  They were flagged for too many penalties that took them out of their rhythm and could not get it going.  It was not because of effort….the Wolves played Olympia very tough and gave them one of their toughest games of the year.

To our  seniors –  Corbin Brokaw, Alex Calder, Derek Chaney, Shane Dodd, Drake Furcini, Pat Gallagher, Brandon Griese, Jeff Grotjahn, Turner Lee, Andy Marzano, Stephen Nasca, Zach Nicholson, Scott Payton, Kelly Rockey, Travis Seaton, Paul Wright and Timmy Xiong - we have enjoyed watching you all grow into outstanding  student-athletes! You have continued the Coach Dales winning tradition of Wolves football by keeping the playoff trend in tact for all 3 years you have played.  You came up a little short in your goal of reaching the big game this year, but you have all surpassed your goals in given all your family and friends a lifetime of memories as an EASTLAKE Wolves Football Player.  We wish you well as you move forward as fine young men!
