Eastlake Gets Season Started With Win |
![]() |
The Eastlake Wolves started off their 2008 season with a 24 – 12 win over a scrappy Mount Si Wildcats. After a defensive battle of field position in the first quarter the game opened up for the Wolves in the second quarter led by a very composed Junior QB - Kelby McCorkle. Kelby entered the game after senior starter Drake Furcini went out with an injury. Kelby led the offense on two successful drives that ended up with TD throws of 6 yards each to senior wide receivers Jeff Grotjahn and Scott Payton. The defense remained very tough throughout the game with the leadership of senior linebacker Turner Lee and his boys – Nasca, Boyce, Gallagher, Chaney, Reifeis, Seaton, Nicholson, Xiong, Payton and Grotjahn. The second half saw Kelby continue to run the offense to score another 10 points with a 28 yard FG by senior punter/kicker Kelly Rockey. The last of the Wolves scoring came on a fantastic catch and run of 55 yards for a TD by junior running back Cameron Hunt. The Wolves came away with a win but also an idea of what they did well and what they need to focus on to continue to improve and challenge the elite in the King-Co 4A division. The Wolves next opponent will be the Kangs of Lake Washington who lost 7-6 to Mercer Island. Story and Photos courtesy of David Payton
